Questions & Answers about Pool Cue Case
How do bar pool tables differentiate between numbered balls and the cue ball when you scratch?
When playing pool at a bar where you pay quarters for each game when you scratch the cue ball is always returned but the numbered balls are put in the case. what is the difference between the balls so the table knowns which to place where?
Coin-op pool tables are designed one of two ways with regard to the cue ball being returned to you: Either the cue ball is slightly larger than the other balls (which allows it to travel down a different chute), or the cue ball has a magnet embedded in it (which trips a sensor to move a gate directing the cue ball down a different chute). It's much more common to find a coin-op table featuring an oversized cue ball than one with the "magnetic" cue ball.
Which pool cue case do I need?
I know a little about pool, but not enough. I am interested in buying a pool cue case for someone (a guy) who has been playing seriously for years. The case he has is old and may hold some value, but thought about getting him one for his birthday... not too soon. However, I do not know anything about it. I know I need a 3 butt/5shaft case. but other than that I don't have any idea what he may like. Any ideas?? please!!! only if you KNOW something about this! Thank you
Not what he will like, but what people in general would like. if you play seriously what do you like, or what is good...
Instroke cases are popular and good. I'm providing a link to a case I think most anyone would like; it doesn't have a pouch for the jump cue butt like Johnny mentioned, but if he has a jump cue, it'll probably fit in the long zippered compartment on the front of the case. I like the black, but you'd know better what he'll like
There are also several other styles available on the website. Happy shopping!

Hey Matt, it says specifically on the description that there's no pouch for the jump cue, and on my case (which is Corey Deuel, not Instroke), my jump cue butt just barely fits in that compartment, and if I have anything floating around on the bottom, I have to rearrange it before putting the butt in...so I think that may be what most people use it for, but not what it's designed for, right?...I could be wrong of course, but that's what makes sense to me...
p.s. My husband had an Instroke case and the jump cue wouldn't fit all the way in the front pouch; he zipped it most of the way shut but it stuck out a little bit.
